GST Registration for Ecommerce Sellers — Amazon, Flipkart & Meesho
The ₹40 lakh threshold does not apply to you. If you supply goods through a marketplace, GST registration is mandatory from your first sale, whatever your turnover — which is why your seller account will not activate without a GSTIN.
We register marketplace sellers in 3–7 working days, with the HSN classification done properly so it does not cause problems at every return afterwards.
How it works
Send your documents
Pick your service, fill in a short form and pay. Takes about three minutes.
We check before we file
The step that prevents rejections. Address mismatches and missing consent letters get caught here, not by the department three weeks later.
We file and track the ARN
You get the acknowledgement number immediately. We follow it daily and answer any clarification the officer raises.
GSTIN issued in 3–7 days
Certificate delivered digitally, ready for invoices and marketplace onboarding.
What you’ll receive
- Your GSTIN, ready to enter in Seller Central or the Flipkart dashboard
- HSN codes classified correctly for the products you actually list
- Digital GST registration certificate
- Guidance on whether you need additional state registrations for FBA
- Clarification replies handled if the department queries anything
- A GST invoice for our fee
GST registration for Amazon sellers: what Seller Central actually checks
Amazon validates the GSTIN against the government database at onboarding, and the legal name on your registration must match the name on the seller account. A mismatch — a middle name present in one and absent in the other — will hold the account even though the GSTIN itself is valid.
It also matters that the state on your GSTIN matches your declared pickup address. Amazon derives the tax treatment of every order from that, and getting it wrong at registration means correcting it later through an amendment rather than at the point it was cheap to fix.
GST registration for Flipkart sellers and the HSN problem nobody mentions
The HSN codes recorded at registration follow you into every invoice and every GSTR-1 afterwards. Marketplaces apply their own rate logic per category, and if your registered classification disagrees with the category you list under, the mismatch surfaces monthly rather than once.
We classify against the products you actually intend to sell rather than picking a generic code, which is what most cheap registrations do because it is faster and the consequences land on you later.
Do Meesho sellers need GST registration? Yes, from the first order
Meesho, like every other e-commerce operator, is required to collect TCS on your supplies and deposit it against your GSTIN. That mechanism only functions if you have one, which is why registration is mandatory rather than advisable.
Sellers frequently ask whether a small volume of orders changes this. It does not. The obligation attaches to the act of supplying through a marketplace, not to how much you supply.
TCS on ecommerce sales: the money you lose by not filing
Marketplaces deduct Tax Collected at Source at 0.5% on the net value of your taxable supplies and deposit it against your GSTIN. You reclaim it as a credit when you file returns — and only then.
Sellers who register to unblock the account and then go quiet are handing that money away every month. On ₹5 lakh of monthly sales that is ₹2,500 a month sitting in the government's hands because nobody filed a return to claim it back.
GST registration for online sellers using FBA in multiple states
If your stock sits in a fulfilment centre in another state, that state is a place of business and needs its own GST registration. This is the single most common thing sellers discover after they scale, at the point it is messiest to fix.
It is not a reason to avoid FBA — it is a reason to plan the registrations before enabling it. We will tell you which states you actually need based on where Amazon proposes to hold your inventory.
GSTIN for ecommerce when your seller account is already on hold
Tell us it is an onboarding block when you message and we will prioritise the document check, because the failure mode here is a clarification notice that adds two weeks to an account that is already losing you sales.
Realistically it is 3–7 working days from complete documents. Anyone promising 24 hours is describing the filing step, not the department's approval, and those are not the same thing.

Who orders this most often
New sellers blocked at onboarding
Seller Central will not activate the account without a GSTIN. This is the most common reason people arrive here.
Sellers moving from one marketplace to several
One GSTIN covers all marketplaces within a state — you do not need a separate registration per platform.
Sellers about to enable FBA
Stock held in another state's fulfilment centre creates a registration obligation in that state.
Sellers who registered and stopped filing
TCS deducted by the marketplace only returns to you through filed returns.
The honest bit about selling online without GST
There is a narrow exemption for suppliers of services through e-commerce platforms below the threshold. It does not extend to goods. If you are shipping physical products through a marketplace, you need to register, and any advice suggesting otherwise is going to cost you more than the registration would have.
If you are still deciding whether to sell online at all, registering before you have a listing is premature — the filing obligation starts the day the GSTIN is issued, whether or not you have sold anything. Get the account ready first, then register.

Frequently asked
Do I really need GST to sell on Amazon or Flipkart?+
Yes, and the turnover threshold does not help you. Anyone supplying goods through an e-commerce operator must be registered regardless of turnover — from the very first sale. The marketplaces enforce this at onboarding, which is why your account is blocked without a GSTIN.
Is there any exception for small sellers?+
There is a limited exemption for suppliers of services through e-commerce platforms below the threshold, but it does not apply to goods. If you are shipping physical products through a marketplace, you need to register.
What is TCS and why does the marketplace deduct it?+
E-commerce operators deduct Tax Collected at Source at 0.5% on the net value of your taxable supplies and deposit it against your GSTIN. You claim it back as a credit when you file returns — but only if you are filing.
Do I need separate registration for each state I store stock in?+
Yes. If you use a fulfilment service like Amazon FBA and your stock is held in a warehouse in another state, that state is a place of business and needs its own registration.
Do I need a separate GSTIN for each marketplace?+
No. One GSTIN per state covers all marketplaces you sell on from that state. It is the state that drives the registration requirement, not the platform.
How fast can I get this? My seller account is on hold.+
3–7 working days in most cases. Tell us in the order notes that it is an onboarding block and we will prioritise the document check so nothing bounces back from the department.
Can I register with my home address as a seller?+
Yes. A consent letter from the property owner with their ownership proof and a utility bill is accepted. This is how most small marketplace sellers register.
