GST Registration Fees — What You Actually Pay in India

The government charges ₹0. There is no statutory application fee for GST registration, no certificate charge and no challan to deposit. Every rupee you pay anyone is a professional fee for doing the work.

Ours is ₹2,999, all inclusive, published here rather than revealed on a callback.

How it works

1

Send your documents

Pick your service, fill in a short form and pay. Takes about three minutes.

2

We check before we file

The step that prevents rejections. Address mismatches and missing consent letters get caught here, not by the department three weeks later.

3

We file and track the ARN

You get the acknowledgement number immediately. We follow it daily and answer any clarification the officer raises.

4

GSTIN issued in 3–7 days

Certificate delivered digitally, ready for invoices and marketplace onboarding.

What you’ll receive

  • Your GSTIN and digital GST registration certificate
  • A document checklist specific to your business type, not a generic PDF
  • ARN tracking updates until the certificate is issued
  • Clarification replies handled if the department raises a query
  • Correct HSN/SAC classification recorded at registration
  • A GST invoice for our fee, so you can claim it

Why GST registration cost varies from ₹399 to ₹3,000 for the same certificate

Because it is not the same service. The cheapest tier is an acquisition price — the fee covers form-filling, and the provider expects to earn on the monthly filing subscription sold to you afterwards. Registration is a one-time job; filing is forever, and that is where the money is for everyone in this market, including us.

What actually differs between tiers is whether anyone inspects your documents before submission, whether a clarification reply is included or billed separately, and whether a person answers when the department raises a query. Those three things determine whether you get a GSTIN in a week or a rejection in three.

GST registration charges compared: what each tier really includes

Advertised prices in India currently run from about ₹399 at the low end to ₹1,500 at the established portals. Ours sits above that band deliberately.

  • ₹399–₹699 — form submission only. Document checking is on you, clarification replies usually cost extra.
  • ₹999–₹1,500 — the established portals. Reasonable service, but expect an upsell call and a filing subscription pitch.
  • ₹2,999 (ours) — documents checked before filing, clarification replies included, no upsell call.
  • ₹5,000+ — typically a local CA firm doing it as part of a wider engagement.

Is there any government fee for GST registration? No — and watch who says otherwise

There is no statutory fee. Not for the application, not for the certificate, not for the ARN. If a quote itemises a 'government fee' or a 'portal charge', that line is invented and you should ask what it covers.

The one genuine third-party cost is a Class 3 digital signature certificate, and it applies only to companies and LLPs, because their applications cannot be submitted with Aadhaar OTP alone. That runs ₹1,000–₹2,000 and is charged at cost. Proprietorships and partnerships never need one.

GST fees for registration when your application gets rejected

This is where cheap quotes stop being cheap. If the officer raises a query in Form REG-03, you have a limited window to respond in REG-04 — commonly seven working days — and the application is rejected if you miss it.

With us the reply is included, and we check documents beforehand precisely so it does not arise. Elsewhere a rejection often means paying again, either as a re-filing fee or as a separate charge for the clarification response. Ask about this specifically before you pay anyone, because it is the most common hidden cost in the category.

GSTIN registration cost for companies, LLPs and partnership firms

Our fee is the same ₹2,999 whatever your entity type. What changes is the documentation and, for companies and LLPs, the digital signature requirement.

Companies need a board resolution appointing the authorised signatory plus PAN, Aadhaar and photographs of every director. Partnership firms need the deed and a letter of authorisation. Proprietorships need the least — the proprietor's PAN doubles as the business PAN. We tell you exactly which list applies to you before you pay, not after.

What GST registration fees do not cover — and what comes next

Registration is the beginning of your compliance obligation, not the end of it. From the date your GSTIN is issued you are legally required to file returns every period — GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B — including in months where you sold nothing. Late fees accrue daily and do not stop because the business was quiet.

We price filing separately and transparently: ₹599 per month in periods with no sales, ₹1,299 when you trade. Nobody bundles it into the registration fee honestly, and any provider who implies otherwise is planning to bill you later.

Everything included

  • New GST registration application (REG-01)
  • Aadhaar authentication support
  • Principal place of business documentation review
  • Consent letter drafting where you operate from home
  • Clarification response (REG-04) if required
  • Digital signature coordination for companies and LLPs

Who orders this most often

Traders crossing the turnover threshold

₹40 lakh for goods in most states, ₹20 lakh in Assam and the other special-category states.

Marketplace sellers

Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho require a GSTIN at onboarding regardless of turnover.

Freelancers and agencies

Services cross at ₹20 lakh, and business clients generally prefer a GST invoice.

Anyone whose last application was rejected

Usually an address-proof defect that is straightforward to fix once you know what the officer objected to.

The honest bit about our GST registration cost

You can do this yourself for ₹0. The GST portal is open to everyone and the form is not impossible. If your case is simple — proprietorship, own premises, clean documents — and you have an afternoon to read the rules properly, doing it yourself is a perfectly reasonable choice and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

What you are buying from us is the document check, the correct classification, and someone who responds to a clarification notice inside the window. That matters most when your premises are rented or shared, when you're a company needing a DSC, or when a previous application has already been rejected.

Frequently asked

What is the government fee for GST registration?+

Zero. There is no statutory application fee, no certificate fee and no challan when you apply on the official GST portal. Any amount you pay — to us or anyone else — is a professional fee.

How much do you charge for GST registration?+

₹2,999, all inclusive. That covers the document check, the application, ARN tracking and any clarification reply the department asks for. The only possible extra is a digital signature certificate, and only if you are a company or LLP.

Why are you more expensive than Vakilsearch or ClearTax?+

Because we are not using the registration to acquire a filing subscription we intend to recover the discount on. Their lower fee is real, and so is the upsell call that follows it. We would rather charge properly once and be straightforward about what filing costs separately.

Are there hidden charges after I pay?+

No. The common pattern elsewhere is a low advertised fee followed by charges for a digital signature, a clarification reply or an 'expert' callback. Ask any provider specifically what happens if the department raises a query — that is where the extra billing usually appears.

Do I need to pay for a digital signature certificate?+

Only companies and LLPs. A Class 3 DSC is mandatory for them because the application cannot be submitted with Aadhaar OTP alone. Proprietorships and partnerships authenticate with Aadhaar OTP at no extra cost.

Can I get a refund if my GST registration is rejected?+

If an application is rejected on a ground we should have caught in the document check, we re-file at no charge. If it is rejected because information you gave us was incorrect, we will tell you plainly and re-file at cost.

Is GST registration cheaper if I do it myself?+

It is free if you do it yourself, and that is a legitimate option. What you buy from a service is the document check, correct HSN/SAC classification, and someone who handles a clarification notice inside the response window.
